The problem with Pete (an essay)

First picture Pete, leftwards with his beers. On the home road. Cans heavy with giddiness, stretching the thin carrier bag, he swings as if it were a trawler net wriggling with fish.
Pete is eager to please.
Pete is self deprecating.
Pete is a non-self believer, hungry to impress.
Ergo Pete’s problems are internal.
Pete, picture it, talking to himself:
Eager Pete comes over too eager to Pete, who hates listening to Pete anyway, so Pete is rejected by Pete and Pete is annoyed to have even had to listen to Pete’s jabbering hence Pete tries again and is rejected once more by Pete, further annoyed by Pete’s instistence….
